HISTORY

The Chebucto Boys & Girls Club, located above the Spryfield Lions Rink on Drysdale Road, started because of a need for more programs for youth in the community. At a community meeting in April 1996, residents and representatives of community organizations met to gauge community interest in starting a Boys and Girls Club. Based on a needs assessment done over the summer of 1996, the Chebucto Boys and Girls Club was formally constituted with an elected Board of Directors in December 1996. After securing some short-term grants, the Club was officially opened on July 6, 1997 with a wide range of summer programs for local children and youth.

Our Club is a non-profit, community-based organization.  We are a recognized charity providing social, recreational and educational programming for children and youth.  The array of services and programs offered at the Chebucto Boys and Girls Club is formulated to respond to the needs identified from within the community’s target area.

Every program or service The Chebucto Boys and Girls Club undertakes flow’s from the Boys and Girls Club Movement’s Mission Statement and Core Values.  These Values are used as a guiding light, a source of reference, and a measure of success.
